The city offers a large pool of innovative talents, retail shops even in the most highly-trafficked places, and a large number of headquarters for fashion designers and retailers compared to other cities in the country.

Indeed, the city is in the leading position in global fashion. And to keep up with this standard, New York City Economic Development Corporation has created a yearlong study which started two years ago to mould and train fashion designers about the industry. The yearlong study was named FashionNYC2020, which examines the challenges the fashion industry expects to face. The program has six initiatives which include:

  2. Launching of the new project Pop-Up, a yearly competition to endorse innovative retail concepts.
  3. Ensuring careers for fashion students. Business-minded students undergo interviews every week for opportunities in earning a full-time career and become stabled in management positions in the industry.
  4. Conducting seminars to enrich and expand the fashion experience of fashion interns. This is held by Fashion Campus NYC and conducted by the leaders in the industry.
